Waterford Crystal - Colleen, Lismore, Jasper Conran, John Rocha
Waterford Crystal was found in 1783 by George and William Penrose when they opened the Waterford Crystal Glass House in the Irish Harbour town of Waterford. Their aim was to produce the finest, most elegant crystal in Europe. They used age old secrets of mining local minerals and glass and the skill of Irish hands to make Waterford Crystal renowned for supreme quality and strength. Production continued in the town until 1851 when the factory closed down and remained that way until 1947 when a Czech immigrant, Charles Bacik opened a new glass factory in the city in an effort to resume the Waterford Crystal tradition. In 1986 Waterford Crystal was acquired by Wedgwood who continued to produce Waterford Crystal in Ireland until 2009. In 1999 designer Jasper Conran was commissioned to design a range of Waterford Crystal which remains popular in the present day with most Waterford Crystal being produced in Eastern Europe. Our range of Waterford Crystal includes Colleen, Lismore, Jasper Conran and John Rocha. Unlike other websites, most Waterford Crystal items are kept in stock.
