Blue Italian Tableware

Spode Blue Italian is an all-time classic design which has been in continuous production since 1816. This remains one of the most famous and instantly recognisable tableware patterns in the world today. The Imari border present on the range is inspired by Chinese porcelain, with the central scene said to portray Roman ruins in the Italian countryside.

The techniques first used in making this fascinating tableware collection led to the formulation of fine bone china and Josiah Spode has been credited with this monumental discovery. The earthenware in the Spode Blue Italian collection is under-glazed using this successful process.
