Spode Blue Italian China

Spode Blue Italian China dates back to 1816 and is one of the world's most famous tableware patterns. The company was launched in 1770 by Josiah Spode and in 1784 the Spode Blue Italian china range was created. In this period, blue and white Chinese porcelain had become extremely popular and Josiah used his own specialist printing methods to produce Spode Blue Italian china of the highest quality. In 1784 William Copeland joined the business and in 1822 the company changed its name to Spode and Copeland. The Spode Blue Italian china design features a central scene which is thought to be of Italian ruins and is framed by an Imari border inspired by Chinese style porcelain. Today Spode Blue Italian is produced by Portmeirion. Below is our range of Spode patterns including Blue Italian and unlike other websites, most Blue Italian items are kept in stock for immediate despatch.
