Aynsley Bone China

Aynsley Bone China is one of the best known names in the Staffordshire potteries with a history reaching back to the late eighteenth century. John Aynsley who died in 1829 was a well known china decorator and his grandson John Aynsley II established the Portland works in 1816 as a model pottery manufacturer. Aynsley Bone China wares were among the first to be exported to North America from a very early date. For much of the twentieth century Aynsley Bone China remained a family firm producing wares of a very high quality emphasising traditional craft skills while experimenting with modern shapes in the early 1930's. Aynsley Bone China services were selected by the present queen and Diana princess of Wales as wedding gifts by the British Pottery.
